Most of the nurses I work with refer to a patient with a birth plan as "today's c-section." Pessimistic bunch, aren't they? As the staff granola mom I love to see women who are educated and in control of their labor experience, whatever the outcome. I'm tired of young mothers in my area who continue to say that the hospital experience is all negative. It can be, like anything can, but I have not known that to be the truth in our area at all. I'm had natural childbirth twice in a birthing chair in a hospital setting. It was a very good balance of a safe and "natural" birth experience although I wouldn't want to wish back labor without pain meds on anybody. I don't think I'd ever want to give birth at home and am very grateful for the medical care and good nursing I received. Thank you for a great story.
